The aim of the British LGBT Awards’ LGBT+ <25 survey is to obtain data that would allow a better understanding of the habits, perceptions and behaviours of self-identifying lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people under the age of 25. The survey will collect data anonymously through a range of questions about young LGBT+ people’s experiences including:
• Sexual and gender identity;
• Personal characteristics, including age group and geographic location;
• Discrimination;
• Safe environment;
• Social context of being LGBT+;
• Use of social media as a young LGBT+ person;
• Public perceptions of young LGBT+ people;
• Whether geographic location affects the behaviours of young LGBT+ people.
The 2019 survey ran from 30 January 2019 until 29 March 2019 and collected nearly 3,000 responses.
The British LGBT Awards published headline findings and a summary report of the LGBT+ <25 survey here.
The 2022 Survey ran from 15 February until 15 April 2022.
This year we aim to publish a new summary report of the 2022 LGBT+ <25 survey, before meeting with the Advisory Board and Steering Council to review the findings and set out the next steps to take in response.
